Jan Willem Troost is a versatile cellist. You can see him playing in a classical orchestra, experimenting with composers and choreographers, or performing authentic Argentinean tango.

At the moment Jan Willem is cellist in the Carel Kraayenhof Ensemble, Sexteto CanyengueRE:-Orchestra, Ensemble Modelo62, as well as several orchestras. With pianist Roeland Drost he forms the duo Troost & Drost. They mix classical music with different genres like tango, Balkan and pop music.

With Ensemble Modelo62 he premiered the opera El Limonero Real by Ezequiel Menalled in July 2015 at the CETC of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. February 2015 he performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Carel Kraayenhof Ensemble and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. He wrote and performed his own music for the production Pessoa – a mist opera that was premiered during the Cello Biënnale 2014 at the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam.
